The Plastic Sheet Is Peeling Off My Book Cover

Leave a 1 inch 2 5 cm space between the book and the end of the paper so you have room to wrap the plastic over the inside cover.
The plastic sheet is peeling off my book cover. For best results the glossy layer on the book cover can be removed peeled off but this will not look very nice. 4 years ago it s a protective cover that stops the paper from fraying similar to the waxing on magazine covers. Researchers at the national archives found that when heat removed the laminate a residual amount of adhesive remained on the paper. You can repair it a little bit by putting a blanket on the peeled layer and iron over it slowly again and again until the heat makes the plastic layer stick back to the printed paper layer.
The pieces that are peeled off can then easily be removed by tearing them off leaving only a tough flexible film on top of the exposed paper. You might notice spots where the color comes off if the book is rubbed against something. It also puts off a gas that creates a chemical reaction when bonded to the paper. Make sure to peel the paper back until the focal point of the v is exposed.
The adhesive found in the plastic melts during the lamination process damaging the irreplaceable document. The text block is the opposite end from the spine. Arrange this edge parallel with the end of the paper.
