Thule Roof Box Stolen

I used to be a sales rep in the outdoor industry so i rotated a packasport top case on the two vehicles i used to cover my territories with.
Thule roof box stolen. It s been my ski storage up here for 3 years. The owner had tried to fix the gaping hole by cutting out some plastic and bonding it. The thievery thread made me think about posting this. Especially in la area in cali which i drive to work to almost each day i sure don t want mine getting stolen you guys think there is a way to.
I was looking for a thule and i found one for a good price but unfortunately it had been badly damaged. I may be back into a more urban living environment and i m wondering if i should even put the thule box back on and leave my stuff in it if i do. Has anyone had a thule or yakima box successfully broken into. You will take an enormous hit on your fuel economy with that box up there.
I m wondering if i need to be afraid of either getting stolen. Thule helps you transport anything you care for safely easily and in style so that you are free to live your active life. Thule bring your life. No bikes no box nothing extra.
I just removed the four allen wrenches that fit on the rack points to discourage theft but is that even too far. Obviously i won t be taking on and off the roof rack since it s a lot of work. Just like what the title said. I just recently got a thule roof rack to put on my kia forte and also a thule kayak stacker.
I think it would have to be massacred with a crowbar to be a successful. I ve seen upwards of a 10 15 loss in mileage with just a roof rack on and wind deflector.
